Canton Comes to 14th

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]here’s a roaring bar scene on 14th. New, upscale restaurants pop up as frequently as humid days in July.  That’s why it came as a huge surprise to see a new neighbor that has a totally different look and cuisine.

There are the Meiwahs and the Tony Chengs that cater to the trendy Washingtonians and tourists alike.

Ever good Chinese food connoiseur worth his salt knows that to find delicious and authentic Chinese cooking, one would have to venture out to Falls Church, Wheaton or even further.

But Da Hong Pao does not appear at all to cater to the new wave of yuppies and urbanites who have taken over the city core.

They are brazenly Cantonese – feature Dim Sum and even offer live fish hand selected from a pool of many shapes and sizes.

Yes Dim Sum is finally in DC proper – no more crossing the border and yes, Mom, there’s finally solid Cantonese food in DC.
