OXON HILL, Md. — BetMGM launched at MGM National Harbor on Thursday, Dec 9th. Governor Hogan, former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann and Prince George’s County Council chair Calvin Hawkins made the first wagers.

Gov. Larry Hogan, a supporter of legal sports wagering, placed the first bet in the state moments after a ceremonial ribbon-cutting event. Hogan bet on the Baltimore Ravens (+700) to win the AFC, and the Washington Football Team (+5000) to win the NFC.

“The only loser is MGM, because they’re gonna have to pay me more than 20 grand when I hit this one,” Hogan said.

Theismann picked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to defend their title against the New England Patriots, a game that would pit Tom Brady against Bill Belichick.

Before opening, MGM National Harbor completed two days of controlled demonstrations under the supervision of Maryland Lottery and Gaming staff.

BetMGM offers a 360-degree jumbotron set up over the bar. The lounge also features a 110-foot wraparound screen with stadium seating and the opportunity to order food and drinks through a mobile device. BetMGM offers 17 kiosks and seven betting windows to place a wager.

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore (Caesars) and Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland (FanDuel) — will launch their sportsbook offerings Friday.

  1. The BETMGM sports lounge is a great place to hang out and watch games and betting on games during half times.
