Green Power Ranger Sets Historic Record, Visiting All 98 Metro Stations in One Day

Raises Awareness for DC’s Mass Transit System and Promotes Awesome Con

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, June 1, 2023, the Green Power Ranger accomplished a remarkable feat by visiting all 98 metro stations of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) in a single day. Not only did he make history, but he also set a new speed record, completing the challenge in an impressive time of 8 hours, 43 minutes, and 35 seconds. The superhero’s purpose behind this extraordinary endeavor was to raise awareness for the second-largest mass transit system in the United States and promote the upcoming Awesome Con event scheduled for June 14-15 in the nation’s capital.

The Power Ranger embarked on his quest by utilizing a combination of 12 different trains and 3 metro buses. This strategic use of metro buses was allowed to avoid backtracking between stations and optimize his route. Throughout the day, he covered over 128 miles of track, demonstrating the efficiency and reach of the DC metro system.

While this may not be the fastest time recorded for visiting all metro stations, it is the first instance of anyone accomplishing the monumental task of visiting all 98 stations within a single day. The previous speed records incorporated only 97 metro stations.  On May 19, the newest station, Potomac Yard, on. the yellow line was opened.

The achievement of visiting every station in such a short timeframe not only highlights the Power Ranger’s dedication but also sheds light on the importance of public transportation in the nation’s capital. As an advocate for the WMATA, he aimed to emphasize the convenience, accessibility, and environmental benefits of utilizing the metro system for commuting and exploring the vibrant city of Washington, D.C.

Additionally, the Power Ranger took the opportunity to promote Awesome Con, a highly anticipated event for fans of comics, movies, TV shows, and pop culture. With his record-breaking feat serving as a testament to his superhero abilities, he encouraged locals and visitors to attend Awesome Con on June 16-18, where they can celebrate their shared passions and immerse themselves in the world of fandom.

Looking ahead, it remains to be seen whether a new speed record will be set for visiting all metro stations later this year. However, immediate prospects for another record-breaking attempt are unlikely due to the upcoming repairs scheduled on the orange line from June 3-25. These necessary maintenance activities demonstrate WMATA’s commitment to ensuring the safety and efficiency of its services, albeit temporarily impacting any potential speed challenges.

The recent opening of the Potomac Yard metro station on March 19th, after years of delays, further underlines the continuous expansion and improvement efforts of the WMATA.  Last November, WMATA added six new stations on the Silver line, including stations at Dulles Airport and Ashburn.  The metro system continues to provide greater connectivity and convenience for residents and visitors alike.

The Power Ranger’s exceptional achievement will undoubtedly be remembered as a significant milestone in the history of the DC metro system. The Power Ranger’s innovative approach, combining both rail and Metrobus including the use of the Farragut Crossing virtual tunnel allowed him to achieve this unprecedented feat. He succeeded in bringing attention to the WMATA and promoting the forthcoming Awesome Con, leaving a lasting impression on commuters, Anime fans, and the city as a whole.
