Free Admission for George Washington’s Birthday (Feb 19 & 22)

Celebrate the first president of the United States at his beloved home. Admission is free for Presidents Day and George Washington’s birthday.

Admission tickets will be distributed on-site upon arrival; a limited number of tickets are available.

Mansion tours are timed. Mansion tour tickets will be distributed first come, first serve. Depending on the number of guests, there may be a 2-3 hour delay between your arrival and your Mansion tour time. Arrive early to receive the earliest tour times.

Mon., Feb. 19: Presidents’ Day

10 a.m.

The official presidential wreath-laying ceremony at George Washington’s Tomb.

10:30 a.m.

Official Observance Ceremony of George Washington’s Birthday, followed by a special military demonstration on the bowling green.

11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Meet “Lady Washington” in the Interpretive Center.

1 p.m.

Music of the Revolution on the bowling green.

2:30 p.m.

Music of the Revolution on the bowling green.

3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Meet “Lady Washington” in the Interpretive Center.

Thurs., Feb. 22

9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Watch Half Crown Bakehouse make hoecakes (the General’s favorite breakfast) on the 12-acre Field.

Hoecakes will be available for purchase after the demonstration.

10:30 a.m. 

Music of the Revolution on the bowling green.

11 a.m.

Celebrate candidates from across the world as they become U.S. citizens during the Naturalization Ceremony in the Ford Orientation Center’s Smith Theater.

1:30 p.m.

Celebrate Washington’s birthday with a free sample of cake in the Vaughan Lobby. While supplies last.

2:30 p.m. 

United States Air Force Strings Concert in the Smith Auditorium.

  • Kids can create a birthday card for George Washington on the bowling green. (10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
  • Half Crown Bakehouse on the 12-acre field
