What date is the Bloomaroo event?
Bloomaroo is on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 2pm-9pm, with fireworks at 8:30pm.

Do I need a ticket?
Bloomaroo at The Wharf is FREE to attend; no tickets are needed. Drinks are available for purchase at designated event bars and at all Wharf bars and restaurants. You must be 21+ to consume alcohol.

What activities are there at the event?
Bloomaroo has a full lineup of music, activities and experiences throughout the day:

🌸 Listen to live music on District Pier, Transit Pier and The Grove stages.
🌸 Visit the Blossom Beauty Bar and face painters on Recreation Pier.
🌸 Sing karaoke with friends on the Boathouse Stage.
🌸 Experience Japan in The Grove with a tea ceremony & a haiku station.
🌸 Watch painting demonstrations and cherry blossom-themed dancers shine in The Grove.
🌸 Sip on cherry blossom-themed drinks and cocktails.
🌸 Kids can create a koi kite, crafts, and get a balloon animal near The Green.
🌸 Sample Espresso Martinis from Blossom Beverages in Market Plaza.
🌸 Visit the DC Shiba Inu Rescue in The Green to learn about the breed and adoptable dogs. 
🌸 Get your photo taken with the roaming photobooth with the mirror ball and stilt walkers.
🌸 Visit DC Lottery on Wharf Street to spin the wheel and win prizes.
🌸 Visit the WAFF tent at the top of District Pier for a flowerpot and learn how to help your neighbors in need.
🌸 Watch a dazzling blossom fireworks finale over the Washington Channel at 8:30pm.

What activities will you have for kids and families?
The whole Bloomaroo event is free and family-friendly, however, a majority of the family-focused activities are on the southeastern side of The Wharf. The Kids Crafts zone features koi kite decorating, a haiku creation station, balloon artist, and more.

Is this event pet-friendly?
Pets are allowed in outdoor spaces throughout The Wharf and the festival area. However, we do expect very large crowds during the event, outdoor areas may be hot or cold, and there is a fireworks show at 8:30pm, so please plan ahead for your pet’s comfort and safety. The recommended pet relief area is Benjamin Banneker Park near 9th and Maine Ave SW.

Are there any cherry blossom drink specials?
From March 23-April 14, visit participating Wharf restaurants to enjoy their delicious cherry blossom-inspired cocktails and enter for your chance to win a $200 restaurant gift card!

Will there be live music?
Bloomaroo features two stages with popular bands playing live music all day long. The Transit Pier Floating Stage will feature performances by Perfekt BlendToo Much Talent Band,  Jimi Smooth & HitTime, and  The Experience Band & Show. The District Pier main stage features back to back performances by Under the CoversStarlight AnthemChuck Brown Band, and Yani the Band.

Will there be fireworks? What time?
Fireworks will be shot off from a barge in the Washington Channel around 8:30pm.

What is the best way to get to The Wharf?
Plan for lots of vehicular traffic and limited parking on Saturday. Instead of driving, ride the Metro to Waterfront Station and walk one block to The Wharf, or ride Metro to L’Enfant Plaza and connect to The Wharf on the free Southwest Shuttle. Or consider taking Bikeshare.

If you can’t avoid driving, The Wharf has three underground parking garages that are open around the clock. Check our garages’ capacity before you arrive. Or plan to utilize one of the nearby off-site parking garages (view PDF map), including Ace Parking at L’Enfant Plaza (420 10th St SW)L’Enfant East Parking Garage (840 D St SW), or the 1100 4th St SW Garage.

What happens if it rains?
A few sprinkles can’t keep us down. Unless the weather poses a hazard, the event will happen rain or shine.

Where are the public bathrooms at The Wharf?
Public restrooms are located throughout The Wharf at the Fish Market, Transit Pier, 800 Water Street, in the Oculus, and at The Terrace. 

Can I bring chairs and coolers?
Chairs and coolers are not permitted at The Wharf at any time. Learn more about The Wharf’s Code of Conduct.

Can I drink alcohol outdoors?
In the District of Columbia, it is against the law to consume alcohol in public, including in the streets, parks, and piers at The Wharf. At The Wharf, you may only consume alcohol inside restaurants, within restaurants’ licensed patio areas, or within the licensed event footprint on District Pier. No outside alcohol is permitted.
