WASHINGTON — The National Weather Service is warning of falling overnight temperatures and windy conditions that will likely lead to icy surfaces and make for slippery roadways.
The forecast has also led the Office of Personnel Management to announce a three-hour delayed arrival Wednesday for federal workers, with an option for unscheduled leave or telework.
A number of area school systems will be closed or opened late Wednesday.
On Thursday, the high temperature will fall below 20 degrees making it the coldest day in five years.
Wednesday night there may be some sub-zero low temps with a fresh snowpack on the ground.
