Finemondo Closes, Noelia to Open
Finemondo has closed its doors after 12 years and Noelia, a combination Italian restaurant and nightspot will open next month.
Finemondo owner Savino Recine sold the business to Kaiser Gill, as the Washington Post first reported Monday.
Gill has tapped former Sette Osteria and Cafe Milano chef Carmen Piazza as the restaurant’s executive chef. She will design a menu of “modern, Italian comfort food,” said Gill. The 6,000-square-foot restaurant will also include a 1,400-square-foot dance floor so the restaurant can transition into a lounge atmosphere on weekends.
The new restaurateur expects to cater to an older crowd with the lounge: people who are interested in nightlife, but might not be keen on the club scene.
Gill served in the U.S. Army, FBI and private sector with a medical services company. He grew up in the restaurant business, however; his family owns Aabshaar, a Pakistani restaurant in Springfield, and Shineys, a restaurant in Annandale.
