Washington City Paper’s Jessica reports that Chaplin’s will be launching Industry Nights starting in March.
Guest chefs and bartenders from all over the city and country rotated through the kitchen for monthly Monday night parties.
Chaplin’s Restaurant head bartender Chad Spangler and his event productions company, Closed Sessions, are launching something similar called Closed Sessions Industry Night. Instead of a focus on guest chefs, the monthly series will focus primarily on guest bartenders. And rather than one home base restaurant, the event will rotate locations.
Closed Sessions, which Spangler runs with bartender Matthew Classens, artist and graphic designer Blaise Railey, and DJ Nathan Thost, also puts on parties at U Street Music Hall and Flash.
The first industry night kicks off on March 2 at 10 p.m. at Chaplin’s. Kapnos and Graffiato Beverage Director Taha Ismail, bartender Glendon Hartley, and Chaplin’s co-owners Ari and Micah Wilder will pour drinks. There will also be some complementary snacks from Chaplin’s and a DJ. Half of the $10 cover charge will go to environmental and sustainable food-related charities.
The industry nights will take place on the first Monday of every month. The next one is set to go down at Jack Rose Dining Saloon.
