Back in the 1600’s, the Catholic church created St Patrick’s Day to commemorate Christianity’s arrival in Ireland — boy has the holiday evolved over the years.
Today, St Patrick’s Day is a week long event featuring several Irish bands and specials. During the week our beloved Brian Gaffney, Peter Baker and Aine Doherty performs.
On Sunday, the Channel participates in an festive parade along Pennsylvania Avenue complete with firetrucks, marching bands, bag pipes and floats representing all the Irish pubs and groups in the area.
