First Down Sports Bar has 40 flavors of wings, both traditional and boneless. The wings are thick, crispy and perfectly sauced.
So when First Down decided to host a Wing Eating Contest Fundraiser, we knew we had to observe.
The USGBC National Capital Region Emerging Professionals hosted the event to raise $2,000 to support 30 volunteers for two days of training.
Over 20 participants raced to eat 25 wings. The winner was Naoum Anagnos of Arlington who stomached the 25 hot wings in a record four minutes and two seconds.
“Thank you all who attended the 1st annual wing eating contest/fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity! It was a great event put together by Beth Giltner, Lauren McDevitt, & Austin Leopold. Thank you Scott Parker,Nick Cordero, & Mike Cordero at Atown Bar & Grill for donating a gift card, Souny West at The W Salon for donating a gift card, and Jamiǝ McMahon & Gabriela Gomez on volunteering their time to make sure all contestants were safe. Last but not least, big thanks to Mara Beth Duhig for having Heineken sponsor the event! Now go drink Heineken and support your local businesses,” said Ramesh Chopra, owner of First Down Sports Bar.
