Washington, DC – On May 10, more than 45 runners embarked on a 13 mile trek covering 4 distinct regions – Georgetown – Dupont Circle – Adams Morgan – Van Ness all while meeting people and celebrating culture, heritage and diversity. The challenging task was not just the run, it was was running past 27+ EU Embassies and visiting nearly a dozen of them. Runners came from all over the area, the majority from DC Capital Striders and one tropical sun conure, named Apollo, tagged along. Inside the Embassies the group had an opportunity to sample food and drinks and partake in local festivities.
“To have the honor to lead 45 amazing #runners, along a winding, very scenic, occasionally hilly, periodic rain showers, 13 mile journey and enjoying an epic running and diverse cultural experience, was indeed an awesome blessing! ,” said Orlando Darden Jr., the lead runner. “Next year promises to be Epic”
I think its a great idea and DCCS would LOVE to assist and perhaps co-brand this run each year,” said Rick President of the DC Capital Striders.
“It looks like a great time was had by all. We look forward to seeing the EU Embassy Runners next year,” said Sandi Auman, Cultural Affairs Officer at the Delegation of the European Union to the United States.
