As part of the Smithsonian Food History Weekend, the National Museum of American History is hosting a day-long festival for families, students, food-enthusiasts, history buffs and more to jump into food history!

Join us in the museum’s new demonstration kitchen for 30-minute demonstrations approximately every hour featuring special guest chefs exploring everything from tea, to Mexican cuisine, to baking, to charcuterie and more.
MEET-THE-AUTHOR BOOK SIGNINGS

Authors, historians, and experts sign copies of books that explore food history from the field to the plate.
SPARK!LAB HANDS-ON FOOD HISTORY ACTIVITIES

Re-invent the shopping cart, talk kitchen gadgets, and take inspiration from Julia Child’s rolling pins and try your hand at inventing a rolling device that makes shapes and symbols as it rolls in the museum’s newly opened Spark!Lab.

Watch archival food film footage and reflect on the role of film in the innovation of food at 11:00 am or catch the screenings of the documentaries, “Farmland” at 1 pm and “Changing Season on the Masumoto Family Farm” at 3:30 pm.
