Severe weather has struck the DMV area again during a blistering August heat wave.
Streets flooded as the skies poured heavy rain and hail and trees came down throughout D.C. The severe storm unleashed a burst of intense gust of 60 MPH.
Lightning struck many times and over 9,000 residents were left without power in MD and VA.

PEPCO is working quickly in the area to restore power for residents.
Thankfully, there are no storms forecast for today and starting tomorrow, a cold front will enter the area bringing nice, dry weather for the weekend.
Meanwhile in the Atlantic, things are quiet with no tropical development through the end of the month — this will be the first time in 22 years that there has not been a hurricane in the month of August.
