We may be thousands of miles from New Orleans, but that didn’t stop the Tulane Club of DC, an active University alumni group from celebrating a jubilation of food, drink music and soul in Adams Morgan. For one night, Turkish restaurant Meze transformed itself into a festive French Quarter bar with Fat Tuesday themed decor, Cajun style specialty menu items such as jambalaya and King Cake shipped from Louisiana, traditional jazz music from Tulane alum, Ted Garber, and beaucoup quantities of beer from their sponsor, Abita.
“It was a very memorable night,” said owner Sully Gunes “This was the first time we held a Mardi Gras themed event at Meze. It was lots and lots of work to make this go smoothly, but in the end it was more than worth it. I certainly hope we build a tradition of Mardi Gras at Meze.”

RUNINdc enjoyed seeing all the happy people consume massive quantities of Abita beer — did anyone order a Mardi Gras Mojito?
