After Ten Years, Tortoise and Hare Crawls to a Close

The Tortoise and Hare opened over ten years ago by Brian Montgomery and Erik Dahlseid.

The popular bar know for hosting Pittsburgh sports teams (Steelers, Penguins, Pirates) has scored its last goal.

And last night, the Crystal City bar closed their doors for the last time.

Here’s a post by Brian Montgomery:

“As we posted back in August, we were beginning the process of selling Tortoise & Hare. We had extended our lease til the end of February as we worked with a potential buyer and they negotiated with the landlord. Unfortunately, the buyer was not approved by our landlord and the deal will not happen. We are still pursuing some options but being that our extension ends today, it is with great pride and a lot of sadness that we announce that after over 10 and a half years, Tortoise & Hare will be serving its last drinks to the public tonight. We can’t express enough how much we appreciate all of our customers over the years making this such a great place to come to every day. And we sincerely thank all of our staff that have worked for us through thick and thin over all these years. HOP IN CRAWL OUT!!”
