German fans from all over the DMV converged at DC’s iconic Deutschland to savor Bavarian food, German drafts and cheer on their beloved National Football Team. Long time German fans and brand spanking new ones crammed into the Biergarten Haus‘s spacious open patios to witness Germany make history — becoming World Champions for the fourth time, but the first in 24 years.
Despite playing in Brazilian turf and experiencing some injuries, Germany gave a stellar performance and beat Lionel Messi and Argentina 1-0. The game was extremely close — tied after 90 minutes.
Now that the German men have won the trophy, let’s see how the women’s team fare next year.
